After 4 years of Rafael Nadal dominating the clay courts of Roland Garros, Roger Federer finally joined the pantheon of greats in the game to have won all four majors, beating Nadal's conqueror Robin Soderling in the final 1n 2009. In 2010 Rafael Nadel won the crown back from Robin soderling in the final. But the game has a new star emerging and Juan Martin del Potro will join Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Federer in trying to wrestle the famous Coupe des Mousquetaires from his grasp.
In the women's draw Francesca Schiavone was the unlikely winner of the crown but will have to fight hard to keep it from a resurgent US open champion Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin returning from retirement.
